Tarpon Springs, Fla. — Florida Hospital North Pinellas is proud to join with EmCare in honoring Dr. Edward A. Norman, MD, as one of EmCare’s South Division Medical Directors of the Year for 2013. Dr. Norman is head of anesthesia for Florida Hospital North Pinellas in Tarpon Springs. “We are honored to have Dr. Norman as our Medical Director at Florida Hospital North Pinellas,” said Bruce Bergherm, hospital President/CEO. “He is well deserving of this recognition and honor.

Other medical staff appointments for Dr. Norman include chief of anesthesia for Florida Hospital Carrollwood. Surgery center staff appointments for Dr. Norman include medical executive committee, member at large for Columbia University Hospital, vice chief of staff for Women’s Hospital & Medical Center, Columbia University General Hospital and Pinellas Community Hospital. He has served as chief of staff for Women’s Hospital & Medical Center and University General Hospital.

Dr. Norman was humbled by the award. “I’m proud to be a part of two excellent health care organizations, I feel like Florida Hospital North Pinellas and EmCare are one big extended family for me, and I can always count on them. It is wonderful being appreciated and recognized for doing my job, especially when I thoroughly enjoy what I do. Other winners for 2013 Medical Director of the Year were Frank Fraunfelter, MD, who is the 2013 Emergency Department Site Medical Director of the Year for EmCare’s South Division. Joseph Namey, DO, is the Hospital Medicine Medical Director of the Year.

“These three exceptional physician leaders were chosen by hospital administration and the EmCare South Division support teams in Clearwater, Fla. and Dallas,” said Dr. Terry Meadows, CEO of EmCare’s South Division. “Please join me in congratulating them on this great achievement.”
