Tampa, Fla — (courtesy of the Outback Bowl) Outback Bowl officials announced today that long-time Title Sponsor Outback Steakhouse has agreed to renew its contract with the New Year’s Day Bowl for six additional years through the January 2020 game.   The commitment, which begins after the upcoming 2014 game, will extend the Tampa-based company’s name sponsorship of the bowl to a total of 25 years, the longest college bowl game title sponsorship in history.

“It was an easy decision to continue to support two things we are very passionate about – Tampa Bay and great college football,” said Jeff Smith, President of Outback Steakhouse.  “We’re headed into our nineteenth year as the Outback Bowl sponsor and Outback Steakhouse is proud to be the longest active title sponsor for any college bowl game.”

“We are extremely proud to announce the continuation of our long-term Title Sponsorship relationship with Outback Steakhouse,” said Outback Bowl President/CEO Jim McVay.  “It’s an honor for our organization to be associated with the finest restaurant company in the world.  Outback Steakhouse is the ultimate corporate citizen in our community.  No one has been more generous, more active with charities and more of a proponent of Tampa Bay.  With Outback Steakhouse’s commitment the Outback Bowl will continue to create an enormous economic impact regionally, and allow us to continue to positively showcase the Tampa Bay area both nationally and internationally.  They are simply the best.  We are fortunate to have them as our Title Sponsor and to have them headquartered in Tampa.”

The Bowl is celebrating its 28th game in January attracting tens-of-thousands of out-of-market visitors to the area each year.  Last year’s thrilling game, dubbed the “best bowl of the year” by some media, attracted fans from 45 states and was televised in 144 countries.

Over its history, the game has generated an estimated $1 billion in economic impact for the Tampa Bay community, hundreds-of-millions of dollars in exposure for the region and contributed $109 million in payouts to the 26 universities in the Big Ten and Southeastern Conference.

The Outback Bowl is currently in negotiations with network partner ESPN and officials from the Big Ten and Southeastern Conferences about extending those relationships as well.

The 2014 Outback Bowl will kickoff at 1 P.M. on January 1st.  Special priority seating membership packages can be purchased directly through the Outback Bowl office by calling (813) 874-BOWL.  Non-membership tickets will go on sale through Ticketmaster in September.  For more information go to www.outbackbowl.com
