Dunedin, Fla. — Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose and sometimes… it rains. (Crash Davis – Bull Durham)  But in even rarer cases it rains and you win.  Take today for example, Blue Jays win 4-1 in a five inning, rain shortened game with the Detroit Tigers.

Dalton Pompey was 2 for 2 in the short game with a home run off Detroit ace Justin Verlander.  Jose Bautista and Justin Smoak also went yard.  Yes, Justin Smoak, I did not stutter, Justin Smoak.  A Pompey blast off Verlander and a Justin Smoak HR, this might be 1993… Eh, don’t get your hopes up.

Lakeland, Florida is hometown of Drew Hutchinson and spring training home of the Detroit Tigers.   Hutchinson improved to 3-0 this spring with five solid innings as the Toronto Blue Jays beat his hometown Tigers 4-1.  Hutchinson allowed one run on four hits while walking one and striking out six in a game shortened to five innings because of rain.
