TAMPA, FLA.–Yankees right-hander David Herndon (Tommy John Surgery) threw two shutout innings during his first rehab start for the Rookie Level Gulf Coast League Yankees yesterday.  He allowed two hits and struck out two.  Herndon appeared in just five games for the Phillies during the 2012 season going 0-1 with a 4.70 ERA prior to surgery in June.  Selected off the wavier wire on October 23, 2012 by the Blue Jays the Yankees claimed him on November 6, 2013 off the wire.

Herndon was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 5th round of the 2006 amateur draft.  Herndon spent 2010, 2011 and 2012 with the Ohillies where he posted a 3.85 ERA and had a 2-8 record in 117 innings pitched.
