After 30 days on the road, pop-punk/metalcore band A Day To Remember was welcomed back to their home state of Florida with a sold out show on Tuesday, March 20th. While not on tour in support of an album, the five-piece instead was out to celebrate their 15th anniversary of being a band. They were joined by supporting acts Papa Roach, Falling in Reverse and The Devil Wears Prada.

The heavy hitting lineup must have brought the storm, as the entire southeast was ravaged by tornado warnings, including hail and flooded interstates the day of the show. Thankfully, by the time the opening act hit the stage at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre, the skies had cleared. Hardcore metal band The Devil Wears Prada got the crowd fired up with a short but pounding 30 minute long set.

Falling In Reverse

Falling in Reverse was next on the bill and their pop/metal background paired well with A Day To Remember. Vocalist Ronnie Radke strutted across the risers on the front of the stage, flashing animated expressions at the crowd. Though they were the youngest band on the tour, they had no trouble engaging the crowd with anthem-like sing-a-longs, from opening song “I’m Not A Vampire” to set closer “Just Like You.”

Providing direct support to A Day To Remember were long time veteran performers and Grammy Award nominees Papa Roach. With nearly 30 charting singles and their first, “Last Resort,” hitting radio stations across America since 2000, the nu-metal rockers appeal to ages spanning over generations. Having an eight album discography makes narrowing down a setlist a challenge, but fans got a taste of everything.

There were notable inclusions from their latest 2017 release Crooked Teeth including the title track, “Born for Greatness” and “Help.” Next on the setlist came “Forever” with a twist – to commemorate the late Chester Bennington’s birthday (March 20th, 1976), they ended the song with a Linkin Park cover tribute of “In The End.” Their energetic hour came to a close on fan favorite, “…To Be Loved.”

After a brief set change, it was finally time for the headliners. Hailing from Ocala, FL, the St. Augustine show was the final date and closest to home A Day To Remember got on the 15 Years In The Making Tour. The fun kicked off with “I’m Made of Wax Larry, What Are You Made Of?” and halfway through the song, vocalist Jeremy McKinnon invited tourmate Mike Hranica (vocalist of The Devil Wears Prada) to join him singing. By the third song “2nd Sucks,” the CO2 cryo jets were in full affect and the crowd was covered in confetti.

A Day To Remember broke into the mainstream scene nearly 10 years ago with the release of their cover of “Since U Been Gone,” originally by Kelly Clarkson. Fans sang their heart out during the live rendition, which continued through numerous throwbacks: “The Danger in Starting A Fire,” “Fast Forward to 2012,” “Another Song About the Weekend,”  and more. Despite releasing the latest addition to their discography Bad Vibrations just over a year and a half ago, only the hit single “Paranoia” made it in to represent the newest album.

Following an energetic, headbanging, 16 song set, A Day To Remember left the stage. Shouts immediately erupted across the amphitheater demanding not one, not two, not three, but, “FOUR MORE SONGS!” while stomping and clapping rang through the stands.

The band happily obliged, twisting things up with acoustic performances of “If It Means A Lot To You” and “I Remember.” The night – and tour – finally came to a bittersweet end with “The Plot to Bomb the Panhandle” and the inevitable “Downfall Of Us All.”

With a Summer full of festival dates on the calendar and after recently performing a headline set at the Self Help fest, A Day To Remember continues to entertain old fans and garner new ones along the way.
