BLUE JAYS ACQUIRE 2B KELLY JOHNSON

        The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have acquired 2B KELLY JOHNSON from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for 2B AARON HILL and IF JOHN McDONALD.  The Blue Jays will also recall C BRIAN JEROLOMAN from Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).
        JOHNSON, 29, has appeared in 114 games for the Arizona Diamondbacks this season posting a .209 batting average with 23 doubles, five triples, 18 home runs and 49 RBI with 13 stolen bases. The 6-1, 195lb. right-handed hitting native of Austin, Texas was a first round draft pick of the Atlanta Braves, 38th overall in 2000.  Johnson is a career .260 hitter with 89 home runs and 326 RBI over 758 games with the Atlanta Braves (2005, 2007-2009) and Arizona (2010-2011).
        JEROLOMAN, 26, is batting .240 this season in 79 games with Las Vegas with nine doubles, two home runs, 26 RBI and a .333 on-base percentage. The left-handed hitting catcher was the Blue Jays 6th round selection in the 2006 First Year player draft.
        HILL, 29, is batting .225 in 104 games this season for Toronto with 15 doubles, a triple, six home runs and 45 RBI.  The 5-11, 195lb. second baseman has spent his entire career in the Toronto organization since being selected 13th overall in the 2003 first year player draft.  In seven seasons with Toronto, Hill owns a career average of .265 with 188 doubles, 96 home runs and 409 RBI.
        McDONALD, 36, is batting .250 this season in 65 games with eight doubles, two home runs and 20 RBI.  The 5-11, 180lb. right-handed hitter has played 13 seasons during which time he has compiled a .240 batting average in 865 games for Cleveland (1999-2004), Detroit (2005) and Toronto (2005, 2006-2011).
