BLUE JAYS ADD CHUCK LAMAR

TORONTO, ONTARIO Friday, November 4, 2011    

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have hired CHUCK LAMAR as a Special Assistant to Amateur Scouting.   “With over 25 years of experience we welcome Chuck’s insight and expertise,” said Toronto Blue Jays Director of Amateur Scouting, Andrew Tinnish. “I look forward to the contributions he will make to our scouting team as we continue to prepare for the 2012 First Year Player Draft.”  

LAMAR joins the Blue Jays after most recently serving as the Assistant General Manager, Player Development and Scouting for the Philadelphia Phillies, a position he held for three seasons.  In 2008 the Twins Falls, Idaho native was the Phillies’ Director of Professional Scouting.   Prior to that, was the Washington Nationals’ Special Assistant to the General Manager and National Crosschecker in 2007.    He spent ten seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays, 1995 though 2005, as the General Manager.  He has also worked for the Atlanta Braves as the Director of Scouting and Player Development prior to holding the Assistant General Manager, Player Personnel position.  He started his career in 1985 as a Scouting Supervisor with Cincinnati before joining Pittsburgh as the Pirates Minor League Operations Director.   The Blue Jays have also promoted Area Scout ROB ST. JULIEN to Regional Crosschecker and West Coast Video Coordinator BRIAN JOHNSTON to Area Scout.
