The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have selected the contract of RHP SAM DYSON from the New Hampshire Fisher Cats of the Eastern League (AA).  Following last night’s game, the team optioned RHP SCOTT RICHMOND to Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).

DYSON, 24, started the 2012 season with Dunedin of the Florida State League (A) where he was 2-0 in six starts with a 4.08 ERA.  Since joining New Hampshire the 6-2, 205 lb. right-handed pitcher has posted a 0.75 ERA in 15 relief appearances with three saves.  The Tampa, Florida native has a combined record of 2-0 with three saves and a 2.56 ERA with 13 walks and 24 strikeouts in 52 2/3 innings.

DYSON was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 4th round of the 2010 June First Year Player Draft from the University of Carolina.  He then missed the 2011 season as he was rehabbing from right elbow surgery (Tommy John).  He is the first Blue Jays player from the 2010 draft to reach the Major Leagues.

The Blue Jays now have 40 players on the 40-man roster.
