Bubble Watch 2017

By on March 3, 2017

The NCAA tournament is less two weeks away and for several teams on the proverbial NCAA bubble this is their make or break week.

Syracuse: For the second year in a row, the Orange find themselves on the bubble. Quality wins over Duke, Virginia, Florida State and Miami give the Orange a very good chance to be one of the last teams in. Loses to St. John’s and Boston College as well as an RPI of 78 will the give the committee a reason to keep the Orange out should they not make a deep run in the ACC tournament.

Wichita State: How is a team 27-4 with an RPI of 40 on the bubble? Being in a mid major conference that’s how. The Shockers have been one of the most consistent teams the past 5 years and Head Coach Gregg Marshall is one of the best college basketball coaches in the country.

Vanderbilt: 13 loses in the past might have had a team headed towards the NIT but after winning eight of their last 11 games the Commodores have crept their way back into the bubble talk. Victories over NCAA automatic teams Florida, South Carolina and Arkansas have the Commodores poised to be one of the last 4 teams in. Like Syracuse, a deep run in the SEC tournament will only strengthen their chances.
