BUCS: SEVERAL ROSTER MOVES ANNOUNCED

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that they have promoted S Vince Anderson, WR Dezmon Briscoe and G Brandon Carter to the active roster from the practice squad and have placed S Cody Grimm, G Davin Joseph and DE Kyle Moore on Injured Reserve. The team also announced they have signed S Larry Asante from the Cleveland Browns Practice Squad and released S Sabby Piscitelli.

Anderson joined Tampa Bay after originally entering the league with the N.Y. Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He spent the 2009 season on the Giants practice squad before being waived on June 21, 2010 and has been on the Buccaneer practice squad for the first 12 weeks of the 2010 season.

Asante entered the league as a fifth-round selection (160th overall) of the Cleveland Browns in this year’s NFL Draft and has spent the first 12 weeks on the Browns practice squad. At the University of Nebraska, Asante started in 36 of 39 games and registered 224 tackles, one sack, three forced fumbles and three interceptions, while earning first-team All-Big 12 honors as a senior.

Briscoe originally entered the league as a sixth-round selection (191st overall) by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2010 NFL Draft and has been on the Buccaneers practice squad for the first 12 weeks of the season. In just three seasons at the University of Kansas, he became the school’s all-time leader in receiving yards (3,240), touchdown catches (31) and 100-yard receiving games (14).    

Carter originally signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent on May 3, 2010 out of Texas Tech and has been with the Buccaneers practice squad for the last 11 weeks of the season. He spent the first week of the season on the Saints practice squad before being released on September 13. As a senior at Tech, Carter earned first-team All Big XII Conference honors.

Grimm played in all 11 games with nine starts and led all defensive backs with 61 tackles while also adding two pasess defensed and two interceptions, one he returned 11 yards for a touchdown. He was also named a Rookie of the Week finalist after his Week 5 performance against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Joseph started in the team’s first 11 games at right guard this season and has played in 68 career games with 67 starts for the team since being drafted in the first-round of the 2006 NFL Draft.

Moore started in all seven games he played for Tampa Bay this season, amassing 29 tackles, six quarterback pressures, one pass defensed and two fumble recoveries.

Piscitelli played in 10 games this season, recording 11 tackles and one interception. In four years with the team, he played in 43 games with 20 starts and tallied 161 tackles, five interceptions, 13 passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

The team also signed WR Ed Gant and DE E.J. Wilson to the practice squad. Gant originally entered the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of the University of North Alabama in 2009, and spent the entire season on the Cardinals practice squad. He also spent a portion of this season on the team’s practice squad before being released on November 16, 2010.

Wilson originally entered the league as a fourth-round pick (127th overall) by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2010 NFL Draft, playing in two games and inactive in eight others before being released on November 23. A three-year starter at the University of North Carolina, Wilson started in 37 games, including 32 consecutive from 2007-09, and recorded 150 tackles, 12.0 sacks, four forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
