The USF Bulls once again got off to a quick start against a ranked opponent in #18 Memphis but unfortunately for the Seniors on the team and the fans in the stands, the lead was fleeting. On Senior Day at Raymond James Stadium, Memphis attacked the Bulls with their five-headed monster at tailback for a total of 325 yards with Patrick Taylor gaining 95 on 17 attempts and scoring on runs of 3, 5 and 10 yards. Leading rusher Kenneth Gainwell averaged 9 yards a carry and finished with 128 yards.

Memphis QB Brady White threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns on 18 of 22 passing including second-quarter TDs of 50 yards to Kedarian Jones and 23 yards to Damonte Coxie. He only dropped back and threw once in the second half as he left the game late in the third with the Tigers leading 42-10. Memphis added another td to cap the blowout at 49-10.

“We just could never get any rhythm at all going on offense,” Strong said, “and then it just beats down your defense.”

USF established program records for fewest first downs with 5 and 44 passing yards and 9 punts.

USF Quarterback Jordan McCloud struggled to find a rhythm and was replaced by Jah’Quez Evans and he was replaced by Kirk Rygol. The Bulls talented tight end Mitchell Wilcox who will get drafted next year, also couldn’t get on track and posted 1 catch for negative 4 yards.

There was an exciting moment during the game for USF fans as a mysterious grey cat made its way on the field. The cat didn’t stay long though and made its way back under a golf cart. The coaching staff probably felt like doing the same thing as Memphis ran off 42 straight points to knock the Bulls out of Bowl contention and might be out of jobs after they take on UCF next Friday on National TV the day after Thanksgiving.
