Chad Jenkins, Proof Positive, 4 Tenths of a Second

DUNEDIN, Fla.–(RSE) For those fans that don’t believe it only takes around four-tenths of a second for a pitched ball to reach the plate here is proof positive that it’s even less.

The following four shots were taken of Toronto Blue Jays RHP Chad Jenkins on Tuesday February 15, 2011 while he was throwing a bullpen session at the team’s Englebert Complex.

Shooting with the “Burst Mode” (eight frames a second) it now proves positively that it only takes a baseball about four-tenths of a second to reach the plate.

So as a word of advice when you yell at an umpire for missing a pitch as he only sees about 300 of these a game.
