DUNEDIN, Fl.–RHP Wes Etheridge is 24 for 24 in save opportunities this season with a 1.03 ERA for Class-A Dunedin recording his latest Tuesday afternoon against Brevard County.

Eltheridge, originally drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers left baseball after the 2008 season for religious reasons but returned in 2009 to play for Maui of the Independent Golden League before signing a minor league contract with Toronto.  On Saturday June 18 Etheridge recorded the save in the North’s 5-3 win in the 50th Florida State League All Star game. Etheridge entered the game with two outs in the 9th. After the game Etheridge was asked if he thought he might not get in the game, “Well they told me he (North pitcher Fran Batista) was going to get two outs and I’m going to get the third, but then there was first and third one out, I was like oh, a ground ball away from a double play then I thought I might not get in.  It’s a weird game we play so you always have to be ready.” (Photo by EDDIE MICHELS)
