Dunedin Man Anxious for Spring Training?

[media-credit attachment_id=3502 id=10 align=”alignleft” width=”190″][/media-credit]DUNEDIN, Fl.(RSE) –Extra hitting by the Blue Jays early arrivals might be delayed this spring after a motorist crashed into the team’s batting cages last Friday November 12, 2010.  Just after 4 PM Friday 50-year old Robert Gibson of Dunedin crashed his 2002 Ford pickup through the outer fence of the team’s Englebert Complex just missing a large oak tree.  Gibson’s vehicle then continued, with no apparent attempt to stop, through the fence surrounding field one at the complex, across home plate before crashing through the field’s backstop.  Gibson’s truck was finally stopped after traveling approximately 200-feet when he hit a 10-inch I Beam that supported the covered batting tunnels  It appears that if Gibson, who suffered a broken leg in the accident, had not hit the support beam he could have continued at least another 50-feet hitting the west end wall of the players clubhouse.  At present the structure has been tagged as unsafe by City of Dunedin officials. (Photos by Eddie Michels)[media-credit attachment_id=3501 id=10 align=”alignright” width=”142″][/media-credit]
