Hutch does the Shuffle

The Blue Jays have recalled infielder Matt Hague from the Buffalo Bisons (AAA) to replace Lefty Aaron Loup who was optioned to Buffalo yesterday and today have optioned Drew Hutchinson to Buffalo.

Matt Hague who turns 30 on August 20, leads the International League with a .348 batting average, 83 RBI, a .427 on-base percentage and 161 hits.  The 6-3, 225 lb native of Bellevue, Washington has hit 10 home runs and has recorded 57 walks with just 56 strikeouts in 463 at bats.    In 33 Major League games with Pittsburgh (2012, 2014) he posted a .222 average with seven RBI.  Hague will wear uniform #23 for Toronto.

Drew Hutchison  is 12-2 with a 5.06 ERA in 24 starts for Toronto this season, in 131 2/3 inninngs pitched with 40 walks and 115 strike outs.

Drew Hutchinson had his last spring tune up before his opening day starting assignment on April 6th at Yankee Stadium.  Hutchinson threw three shutout innings against a Boston Red Sox split squad allowing three hits, walked one and struck out one lowering his spring ERA to 1.50.
