I Ott to be a GM – Western Conference-Southwest Division
By Joshua Ott on March 14, 2012My thoughts:
Duncan and Popovich are just not going anywhere, but the rest of the team is up for grabs.
How I make it work:
-I trade Tony Parker, Richard Jefferson and Dejuan Blair to the Nets for Deron Williams and Anthony Morrow.
– I trade Ginobli and Jefferson to the Wizards for Rashard Lewis, Javale McGee, Jordan Crawford and their unprotected 2012 draft pick.
Future Outlook:
D-Will, Crawford, Lewis, Leonard, Duncan and McGee, and the possible number 1 pick in the draft. This is a scary good team.
My Thoughts:
I’m not a fan of O.J. Mayo (what were his parents thinking?) or Rudy Gay, but some folks are so they are GONZO! Gasol and Randolph are the pillars to the team so I will be building around them a little better than the players they have around them now.
How I make it work:
– As much as I hate to do it, and take a dive, it’s a necessary evil for this season only. I trade away whatever I can to add draft picks.
– I trade Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo to the Nets for MarShon Brooks, Okur, Farmar and the Nets unrestricted draft pick in 2012.
I trade Mike Conley and Tony Allen to the Jazz for Alec Burks, C.J. Miles and Utah’s pick (Top 7 protected via the Warriors.)
– I target Small Forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist with the Nets pick, Power Forward Jared Sullenger with Utah’s pick, and Point Guard Kendall Marshall with my own pick.
Future Outlook:
Yet again I amaze myself with the ability to build an amazing team! Sullenger can come off the bench as he continues to grow as a player, Gilchrist will be a very good outside Shooter and he plays solid defense, and Marshal could really be a steal.
My Thoughts:
I have a Billionaire owner a city thirsty for another championship run and an aging German. I need to build not around him but build with him as key, he is no longer the dominant big he was, but he is going nowhere.
How I make it work:
– I trade Jason Terry, Shawn Marion, Delonte West, Brian Cardinal and 2013 unprotected draft pick the Nets for Deron Williams.
Future Outlook:
D-Will and Dirk alone will make the team tough, but the real power would come in free agency. Dwight Howard would have to take a serious look, and if he doesn’t there are always other options.
Houston Rockets:
Kevin McHale deserves a serious group of bigs for him to work with. With solid point guard in place the rest is open for remodeling.
How I make it work:
– I trade Scola, Dalembert and Courtney Lee to the Piston for Ben Gordon and Greg Monroe.
– I trade Marcus Morris, Kevin Martin and the Knicks top 5 protected pick in the 2012 draft to the Raptors for Andrea Bargnani.
Future Outlook:
Monroe and Bargnani with Lowry is a very athletic core, Coach McHale will eat this up and turn the Rockets back into a powerhouse.
My Thoughts:
I can’t play GM unless I play David Stern as well, and I just cannot bring myself to play David Stern. If I had final say I would do this.
How I make it work:
– I trade Belineli, Vasquez, Okafor, Ayon and the Timberwolves unprotected pick to the Celtics for Rajon Rondo.
Future Outlook:
As long as Stern is making the moves for this team I hope for nothing but the worst. But my team wins games, lots of games.
