In Dunedin Jays down other Birds 4-1

DUNEDIN, Fla.—The Toronto Blue Jays improved to 8-2-1 in Grapefruit League play with a 4-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Monday.

Right-hander Brandon Morrow (below) got the win with three solid innings of one hit shutout ball while the O’s Wei-Yin Chen took the loss allowing one run on two hits over three innings.

Omar Vizquel, who turns 45 next month, played third base for the first time this spring handling four chances at third errorless including making one putout throw to first from the left field grass.

Vizquel also had two RBI

RHP Deck McGuire threw two perfect innings to pick up the save.

TRANSACTIONS: RHP Nelson Figueroa, RHP Jim Hoey and Inf. Ryan Goins were reassigned to the Jays minor league camp.  The Jays now have 54-players in camp.

BLUE JAYS NOTES: On Tuesday the 13th the Jays travel to St. Pete to face the Canadian National Junior team at Al Lang Field, game time is 1:05 PM.  As most Canadians know that are down here from north of the border it is a good chance to see their home grown baseball talent as the Jays usually bring all the Canadian players they have under contract to play in the game. …Manager John Farrell announced that RHP Dustin McGowan will make his next start on Friday against the Astros in Kissimmee.  McGowan was originally scheduled to pitch Friday in a Triple-A game at the Englebert Complex.
