JAYS REYES DESIGNATED FOR ASSIGNMENT

      The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have designated LHP JO JO REYES for assignment and have selected the contract of LHP WILFREDO LEDEZMA from Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League (AAA)

        REYES, 26, made 20 starts for the Blue Jays this season, posting a 5-8 record with 5.40 ERA. The West Covina, California native, who was acquired along with SS Yunel Escobar last season from Atlanta, holds a 10-23 career record along with 6.04 ERA in 61 games, 57 of them starts.
        LEDEZMA, 30, has spent all of 2011 with Las Vegas, making 34 appearances, all in relief. The 6’4”, 225 pound, left-hander has posted a 1-1 record with a 4.63 ERA, adding 63 strikeouts in only 46.2 innings pitched, while holding left-handed hitters to a .210 batting average. The Guarico, Venezuela native has appeared in 187 Major League games (40 starts) over eight seasons, pitching for Detroit, Atlanta, San Diego, Arizona, Washington, and Pittsburgh. Ledezma owns a 15-25 career mark with a 5.26 ERA.
