Jays Top Phillies (SS) in Final Cross-town Game of the Spring 7-6

 CLEARWATER, Fl. (RSEN)–Jose Bautista went 3-4 with three doubles and two RBI as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Philadelphia Phillies (SS) 7-6 in the squads final meeting of the spring.

     “Not because of the results I had today,” said Bautista when ask about being anxious for the regular season to start, “But I am ready.  I had some pretty decent at bats, was swinging at strikes and hit some holes.”

     Bautista continued speaking of the Jays young starter Drew Hutchinson.

     “We had a young pitcher who came out here and threw the ball excellent, said Bautista, “He really surprised a bunch of us in the dugout.”

     Hutchinson’s performance was well noticed by Manager John Farrell.

     “He was very impressive for only having about 20-innings above the Gulf Coast and New York-Penn League,” said Farrell.  “It was a good day for him; he’s just two years out of high school.”

     Hutchinson went 4 2/3 innings allowing two runs on two-hits while walking one and striking out one.

     Farrell said of Bautista, “He’s on a really good run right now.”

     Near by Pinellas Park resident Jesse Litsch was at the clubhouse in Dunedin Saturday morning after suffering a bout of dehydration during Friday night’s start against the Red Sox in Ft. Myers.

     “It was the third inning last night when I felt it,” said Litsch Saturday morning, “I figured I didn’t drink enough water.  They gave me two IV’s in the clubhouse then one in the hospital.  I’ve never had this happen before.”

     As to when he will pitch next Litsch, the Jays fifth starter said, “I will pitch in a minor league game on the 31st then against Oakland the following Wednesday.”

     OF Cory Patterson was also injured in the game when he was hit in the head by a pitch.

     “He will have some concussion tests today then get him back on a bike tomorrow to see how he does, said Farrell, “The best case scenario is two days down then he is back.”

     The Jays host the Orioles on Sunday then wrap up the spring home schedule on Monday against the Red Sox.
