Lawrie, Gillespie and Osuna First Rehab starts in Dunedin

DUNEDIN, FLA.–Toronto Blue Jays 2B/3B Brett Lawrie (broken right index finger) played in his first rehab start for Class-A Dunedin on Friday August 1, 2014.  Lawrie went 1-3 with a walk and two strike outs while scoring two runs.  He played errorless ball at second.  As to how long he will be in Dunedin Lawrie said prior to the game, “I’m not to sure.”

DUNEDIN, Fl.--RHP prospect Roberto Osuna allowed three runs in his first start for Class-A Dunedin just a year and six days after "Tommy John Surgery."      Signed as a free agent in 2011 out of Sinaloa, Mx. Osuna used his fastball that topped out at 96 MPH to allow four hits, walk one and struck out five over  3 1/3 innings throwing 54-pitches.      "No, no problems," said the 19-year old afterwards, "I'll pitch next Wednesday (8-6-14) in Lakeland."      As Osuna left the field for the clubhouse the Dunedin bullpen in mass greeted him saying, "Welcome Back." (Eddie Michels photo)
