St. Paul, Mn. (RSEN) — Tampa Bay Lightning began a key three game road trip in Minnesota on a positive as they posted a 3-1 victory against the Wild.  This victory pulls them within one point, with four games to play of the Pittsburgh Penguins for the fourth seed and more importantly home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Pittsburgh knows the Bolts have closed the gap before they hit the ice tonight in South Florida as they skate against the Florida Panthers at 7pm at the Sunrise Center.

The Lightning team is feeling really confident right now as they have won four games in a row, which is especially true for goaltender Dwayne Roloson, who is starting to round in form as he made 29 saves on 30 shots to gain the victory his third consecutive start for the Bolts.

For Ryan Malone he scored his 12th of the season and his first goal since he returned from injury on Thursday when he tied the score for the Lightning in the second period.  Steve Downie, who now has goals in consecutive games scored his 10th goal of the season to give them a lead they would not surrender.

Sean Bergenheim scored on a 2 on 1 as Marty St Louis fed the forward as Bergenheim scored his 14th goal of the season which gave the Bolts there 3-1 score line and the victory on the first game of the three game road trip.

With Downie’s goal it gives the Bolts nine guys with at least 10 goals or more, which gives them a nice balanced scoring attack which should bode well heading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The team continues trip tomorrow in Chicago to face the defending Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks who are fighting for their playoff lives in 8th place in the Western Conference.  the Lightning is going to have to really dig deep if it wants to continue their win streak tomorrow night at 7pm.
