Tampa,Fla. – And to think I was excited when the Lightning were only 8 points with games in hand and a bunch February and March home games.  Now the Lightning,  just 4 points out of eighth place Winnipeg and just 10 points behind 7th place Ottawa with two games in hand on each.

Maybe I will have a couple more bandwagon fans jumping on and believing in me.  Come on, get on, there is plenty of room.  Like said back on February 1st there is something special about this team Not Backing off Playoff Prediction, Bolts 8 Points Out.

The Lightning could have easily packed it trailing 2-0 to the NY Rangers who lead the Eastern Conference 10 points ahead of 2nd place Boston.  But there is something special about this team.  “Players have really developed their mental toughness…we fight harder then the opponent,” said Guy Boucher post-game.  “We didn’t just wake up, we got better…we’re getting the reward for not quitting.”  Boucher continued.  And in closing Boucher paid tribute to the fans, “OUR FANS, I don’t what it sounds like in the stands, but where I am I get shivers…felt like playoffs.”

A line up sheet that had me double checking it at times… # 3 Aulie, #15 Lee, #21 Segal, #23 Commodore.  “Keep playing our game…new guys stepped in and played well,” said Ryan Malone, who beat Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist with a shot at 1:58 of overtime for the win.

Brett Connolly, who had an assist and was plus one said, “It’s nice to contribute lately…getting points every night and winning.”  When talking about the Rangers Connolly said, “They played last night and we wanted to wear them down.”

Well that is what the Carolina Hurricanes will be saying tonight when the Lightning play the Hurricanes in Raleigh.  And much to my dismay there may be a Dwayne Roloson sighting between the pipes, come on Dwayne steal one for us.

The Lightning return home to play the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday the 6th.
