Notre Dame Fighting Irish Preview
By Joshua Ott on August 8, 2010Always under a microscope the Fighting Irish actually field a very solid team in 2010. New head coach Brian Kelly brings a spread offense and brutal defense to South Bend and plans to continue his winning ways. Kelly is not walking into a team that is in shambles as some may believe. They did lose starting Quarterback Jimmy Clauson, and Wide receiver Golden Tate, but the Irish have a nice cache of weapons. Senior Running back/full back Robert Hughes is one to keep an eye on, this bruiser is 5β11ββ and weighs 245 pounds. Hughes runs with anger and has legs that never stop moving until the whistle blows, he may just be the next Jerome Bettis. The offense will also have junior wide receiver in Michael Floyd; he may have ended with better numbers than Golden Tate, had he not had injuries throughout the season. The Defense will be in the hands of sophomore inside linebacker Manti Teβo, who is 250 pounds of nasty! He is quick to the ball, and has a true thirst for hitting. With a mediocre schedule Notre Dame could go from a 6-6 season to 10-2 season if all goes as Brian Kelly plans.
