Out with Non-Folding

By on April 26, 2019

Workers started on Wednesday tearing out the old seats at the Toronto Blue Jays spring training home Dunedin Stadium at Grant Field.  The present stadium was built in 1990 with a capacity of 6106 but was reconfigured in 2003 to a capacity of 5509.  The seats being removed are the originals from 1990 and were not folding seats which made  it difficult for fans to get to their seats.

As part of the construction at the Englebert Complex in Dunedin for the Toronto Blue Jays spring training site the last walls of the squash and handball courts were coming down on Wednesday.

Although no permits were in sight contractors were removing live trees at the Vanech Complex to make way for construction of the Toronto Blue Jays new spring training site at the Englebert Complex.

The last remaining bit of softball at the Vanech Complex in Dunedin is still standing tall, for now at least.  The scoreboard in the middle of the picture is all that is left of the last three softball fields in Dunedin.  It will become part of the Toronto Blue Jays new spring training facility.
