DUNEDIN, Fla.—Philadelphia Phillies right hander Jonthan Pettibone (right shoulder) faced opposition players for the first time since shoulder surgery last June.

The 24-year old third round pick in the June 2008 Draft threw a perfect inning getting two fly outs and a ground out on 11-pitches, nine strikes with a fastball that topped out at 87 MPH.

“I’m just continuing the long process of getting back on the mound and getting back healthy,” said Pettibone of his first game.   “This is the first step and one of the last steps so I will get back out there and be ready to go next time.”

As to when and where he will pitch next Pettibone said, “I am not sure where but it’s every five days so I think it’s next Wednesday I am scheduled to throw again and I am going to throw two innings.”

All though only throwing 11-pitches Pettibone did throw the remainder of his scheduled 25-pitches on the side.
