Storied Pirate Instructors

The Pittsburgh Pirates have the great fortune of having three storied guest instructors in camp.  

Bill Mazeroski played 17 years in MLB all with the Pirates.  Batting .260 with 138 HR and 853 RBI.  Of course the biggest HR of all was in the bottom of ninth in game 7 of the 1960 World Series. (Eddie MIchels photo)

Bill Virdon played 12 MLB seasons, the first one with the St. Louis Cardinals and the last 11 with the Buccos.  Virdon managed for 15 in the show from 1972 to 1984.  In 1972 he led the Pirates to the NL East title.  1972 and 1973 he managed the Pirates, the Yankees in 1974 and first half 1975, the Houston Astros second half of 1975 through 1982 and finished his final two seasons with the Montreal Expos.
