Podsednik Arrives

[media-credit attachment_id=4803 id=10 align=”alignleft” width=”150″][/media-credit]DUNEDIN, Fla–(RSE) OF Scott Podsednik finally arrived in the Toronto Blue Jays camp after signing a minor league contract with the team on February 16.
     Podsednik, who split the 2010 season between the Royals and Dodgers posted a combined .297 average with 35 stolen bases over 134-games.
     His late arrival was due to problems with his left foot.
     “I was a bit surprised about the lack of interest during the off season,” said Podsednik of not being signed, “They (Blue Jays) were the most aggressive in signing.”
     As to his injury and making the opening day roster Podsednik said, “I don’t know it’s tough to answer..a lot of things can happen between now and the end of March.”
     Manager John Farrell said of Podsednik, “He’s still competing for a spot on the opening day roster.”
     The 34-year old Podsednik prefers to play left or center field but will have competition there.
 
BLUE JAYS NOTES; RHP Scott Richmond his back Wednesday morning during workout but a quick trip to the trainers room straightened things out.  “I tweaked it but it’s okay now,” said Richmond. …The Blue Jays two inter squad games will be played at Grant Field, Thursday’s at 12:30 PM and Fridays at 11 AM. …Brett Cecil will get the start for Toronto on Saturday the 26 when they host Detroit in Dunedin at 1:05 PM.
