Roy Halladay Killed in Plane Crash

Sad news today out of Florida, Former MLB pitcher Roy Halladay was killed Tuesday afternoon.  Halladay was piloting a personal aircraft that went in in the Gulf of Mexico of the west coast of Florida.

According to the Pasco County (Florida) Sheriff’s Office the crash happened around noon.  Three mayday calls made to air traffic control, Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said at a news conference.

Halladay spent 16 years in MLB, 12 with Toronto and the last four with Philadelphia.

“We are numb over the very tragic news about Roy Halladay’s untimely death,” the Phillies said in a statement. “There are no words that describe the sadness that the entire Phillies family is feeling over the loss of one of the most respected human beings to ever play the game.”
