Saunders Scheduled for Speedy Recovery

Toronto Blue Jays left fielder Michael Saunders arrives at the team’s Mattick Complex on Friday prior to his surgery to repair the torn meniscus in his left knee.  Saunders injured the knee fielding balls on field one at the complex when he stepped on a sprinkler head.  “40% is still good”, said GM Alex Anthopouls of the operation that saw the majority of the damaged tissue removed.  “Hopefully he starts to run in two weeks,” said Anthopolus, “And hopefully in another 3-4 weeks he can start a rehab.”  According to Anthopolus it was Saunders decision to have the damaged tissue removed.  As to when Saunders will leave the hospital Anthopolus said, “He’ll walk out of there today.”  Originally Saunders figured he wouldn’t return until the All-Star break.
