GAINESVILLE, FLA. – Nominations for the fourth annual Florida High School Athletic Association Sunshine State Spirit Showdown are currently being accepted, the organization announced Monday. The competition, which determines the best student section in the state, began in 2013 as a way of promoting sportsmanship and celebrating school spirit among FHSAA member schools.

All FHSAA schools are encouraged to enter at www.fhsaa.org/upload by uploading a video lasting between 90 seconds and three minutes. The videos should display examples of school spirit from the student body and must include at least 30 seconds explaining why the student section is the best one in the state.

The deadline for submissions is Feb. 1. Submitted videos will be uploaded to the FHSAA’s YouTube page, with fans voting Feb. 13-March 9 for their favorite through a Survey Monkey link that the FHSAA will distribute on all its social media platforms. The winner will be determined by FHSAA’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee along with fan voting. For fairness, votes will be divided by the population of the school, with the percentage determining the number of points given to each school.

The winning school will be announced on March 13, and that school will be presented with a plaque and a banner on a later date.
