Terps Tame Bulls

            Redemption turned into humiliation for the South Florida Bulls Saturday in College Park, MD.  The Bulls had opportunities all game but could not capitalize.

            On the third play of the game, Bulls’ Defensive Back, Devin Abraham, picked off a Caleb Rowe pass and returned it 42 yards to the Maryland 4 yard line.  The Bulls quickly scored on a pass from Quinton Flowers to Rodney Adams to take the lead 7-0.

            The lead would be short lived.

            The Terps scored on their next two possessions as Caleb Rowe completed

touchdown passes of 1 and 70 yards.  The Terps led 14-7 going into the second quarter and never relinquished the lead.

The Bulls were able to reduce the lead to 14-10 in the second quarter as Deatrick Nichols intercepted Caleb Rowe.  The interception by Nichols would lead to a 34 yard Field Goal by Emilio Nadelman.

The four point deficit would not stay four points for long.

            With under a minute to go in the first half, Rowe connected with wide receiver Levern Jacobs for a 49 yard pass.  On the very next play, running back Brandon Ross scampered into the end zone giving Maryland 21-10 lead heading into halftime.  The Bulls were outgained 317-133 in the first half.

 The second half continued the same way the first half ended…the Terps dominating the Bulls.

For the second week in a row, the Bulls began the second half by giving up a big special teams play.  On the opening kickoff of the second half, Maryland kick returner Ty Johnson returned the kickoff 45 yards.  Five plays later, Maryland would score making extending their lead to 28-10.

The lone bright spot for the Bulls in the second half was Jamie Byrd’s 4^th career interception.  The Byrd interception would set up a run by Quinton Flowers which would cut the lead to 28-17.

The comeback was too little too late as the Terps would score again and defeat the Bulls 35-17.

Just like the first game, the Bulls were plagued by penalties.  Unlike the first game, the Bulls were unable to overcome the penalties.  The Bulls were flagged ten times for 105 yards, including a holding call which negated a Marlon Mack touchdown run.

The Bulls were led by Quinton Flowers who was 10-for-19 for 60 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT.  Flowers also had 85 yards to lead the Bulls in rushing.
