Threshers News May 2012

The Clearwater Threshers continue to rise up the standings column in the Florida State League, and are currently sitting in second place in the FSL North. After a walk-off victory versus first-place Dunedin on Wednesday, the Threshers trail the Blue Jays by just four games.

Second baseman Cody Asche has been the star of the month so far for the Threshers, hitting .379 in May. He hit safely in 15 straight games before going 0 for 3 on Wednesday to end the streak.

The Threshers continue their six-game homestand by welcoming in the Jupiter Hammerheads for a four-game series at Bright House Field. As always, there are plenty of great promotions to take advantage of throughout the course of the series!

Thursday – Thirsty Thursday – Come on out to the ballgame and enjoy 2-for-1 prices on all beverages! Game time is 7:00pm, with gates opening at 6:00pm.

Friday – Prostate Cancer Awareness Night – The first 1,000 fans in attendance for this 6:30pm game will receive a free blue Threshers cap to kick-start this unique evening.

As part of the promotion, the Threshers players will be wearing special blue uniforms, some of which will be made available for silent auction during the game. Proceeds will benefit the Morton Plant Mease Foundation as well as the Ed Randall “Bat for the Cure” program. Join us as we help support the fight against prostate cancer! Gates open at 5:30pm.

Additionally on Friday, fans are encouraged to try out the Tampa Bay Times Family Pack – four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas, and four bags of chips available all for just $25.

Finally on Friday, stick around after the game for a fantastic concert brought to you by the Black Honkeys!

Saturday – Post-game fireworks – Enjoy the game and make sure to stay in your seat afterwards as we bring you one of the best fireworks displays in all of the Tampa Bay area! Game time is 6:30pm, with gates opening at 5:00pm.

Also on Sunday, be sure to try out one of our drink specials! $2.00 Mimosas, Margaritas, and Bloody Marys will be available.

Bright House Field will be the home of the 2012 BIG EAST Baseball Championship from May 22-27. The top eight teams in the conference will battle for an automatic berth into the NCAA tournament and chance to make it to the College World Series in Omaha.

Opening Ceremonies will on Tuesday, May 22, and is free to the public. Enjoy a Home Run Derby, Awards Banquet and Fireworks to cap off the evening. The games begin on Wednesday at 10:00am and a free Happy Hour segment will begin on Wednesday night starting at 5:00pm for the USF game!
