What started off as a promising spring for the Philadelphia Phillies has turned into a September 1st date and the number 21 1/2 in the GB column which earmarks 4th place in the NL East.
September 1st, which happens to be today, is the day Michael Young gets traded to the LA Dodgers. Good for Young, looks like a playoff appearance for him. Nothing like gaining 19 wins in the win column overnight, and a 11 1/2 game division lead.
Young a .300 career hitter in his 14th season batted .276 with 8 HR and 42 RBI with the Phils this season, heads home to Southern California.
The Dodgers dealt minor-league RHP Rob Rasmussen and cash. Rasmussen pitched at AAA Albuquerque where he was 0-7 with a 6.46 and AA Chattanooga, 3-4, 2.55.
