Recall OF Travis Snider, Designate OF Juan Rivera for Assignment

  The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have designated OF JUAN RIVERA for assignment following today’s game and tomorrow, will recall OF TRAVIS SNIDER from Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).

   SNIDER, 23, hit .333 for Las Vegas in 49 games this season with 21 doubles, two triples, two home runs and 21 RBI.  The left-handed hitter has posted a .403 on-base percentage.  He appeared in 25 games for Toronto to start the season hitting .184 with four doubles, one home run and 12 RBI before being optioned to Las Vegas on April 28.  The 6-0, 230 lbs. outfielder did not play from June 18 until June 30 after suffering a concussion.

 RIVERA, 33, has appeared in 70 games for the Blue Jays this season batting .243 with six home runs and 27 RBI with a .305 on-base percentage.   The 6-2, 230 lbs. right-handed hitter was acquired by the Blue Jays on January 21, 2011 along with catcher Mike Napoli from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in exchange for OF Vernon Wells.
