The Tampa Bay Lightning will attempt to clench the Eastern Conference Title for the second year in a row. The Lightning found themselves in this same situation at this very time last year, a game 7 on the road.  They dropped game six at home to the New York Rangers, and were forced to play for the Conference title at Madison Square Garden. Their backs against the wall,  the Lightning faced the Rangers that had historically never lost a game seven at home.  The Lightning were triumphant and went on to play the Chicago Blackhawks for the Stanley Cup.

So this means the Lightning will be in familiar territory tonight, although they will be in Pittsburgh. The yellow towels waving in the crowd, you know, the one’s paid for by  the Bradenton Anna Maria Island CVB, the Lightning face a team that has not historically had success in game 7 at home. Pittsburgh has lost the last three game sevens at the Consol Energy Center, something they will need to overcome to advance to the Cup Final.

Will Sidney Crosby and the Pens put the pressure on and cause the Lightning forwards to be on their heels.  Or will the Lightning come out of the door fast and furious, getting scoring contribution from all of their lines.

“We’re a confident group…it’s gonna take our best, when we’re at our best we’re managing the puck and you can see when they (Penguins) do that, they grab the momentum pretty quickly.” RYAN CALLAHAN

The drama unfolds at 8pm Eastern time tonight, NBCSN with Doc Emrick breaking down the game. The Lightning fans are hoping the investment made by the Bradenton Anna Maria Island CVB, comes to a screeching halt tonight.
