Yawkey Way vs. Bronx – Not what it used to Be

The biggest rivalry in all of sports has taken a hit in recent years. The rivalry between the Red Sox and Yankees has lacked drama and excitement since 2004.

I understand that nothing will ever compare to the games played between 2003 and 2004, however, a Kentucky Mens Basketball practice in comparison, has started to become more dramatic than nearly 10 years of this I95 feud.

In an effort to save baseball, while not instituting a pitch clock or imposing batter restrictions, the Yankees and Red Sox have given us hope; hope that the greatest rivalry in sports is ready to step up.

Round 1: Red Sox

Trying to avoid a 3.5 hour trip from Ft Myers, FL to Jupiter, FL, The Red Sox decided to hold a relay race. The club was split into two teams and the losing team would be forced to travel to Jupiter, across Alligator Alley. Video of the winning team crossing the finish line can be seen here. Round 2: Yankees

The Yankees could not just sit and watch their rivals garner so much creative attention. They had to act fast. While the relay-racing Red Sox took to the field, the Yankees took us to the sandlot, literally.

Certainly both of these events are amusing; the rivalry between these two clubs is anything but. The jury is still out on which team won this battle, fortunately for the rest of baseball world we don’t have to wait too long for the two to renew acquaintances; they square off on April 10 at Yankee Stadium.
