2011-12 NCAA Bowl Games and why I’d Wear a Case Keenum Jersey

BEST BOWL MATCH-UP: The GoDaddy.com Bowl, Arkansas St. vs. Northern Illinois, ha ha, got ya!   No the obvious pick is the National Championship Alabama vs. LSU.  Rematch, Saban – Miles, defense… we definitely have the best for last.  And yes it is last. I think a couple years we actually had a bowl game after the National Championship Game.

Now on to the less obvious…

WORST BOWL MATCH-UP:

The San Diego Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.  TCU vs. Louisiana Tech. Did the Horned Frogs screw themselves that bad?  The loss to Baylor in week one, who knew then that was no biggie. But losing to SMU at home gets you a Wednesday bowl game at 5pm local time.  Wow at least with it being a Wednesday maybe Andy Dalton will show up.  Frogs should crush Tech provided the Frogs play even though it must suck to be there, well San Diego is nice.

BEST BOWL SPONSORSHIP NAME:  Valero Alamo.  It just has a nice ring… THE VALERO ALAMO BOWL, THE VALERO ALAMO BOWL, THE VALERO ALAMO BOWL.  At least the Valero Corp.thought this opportunity out, nice sounding and the bowl is based in their HQ city, San Antonio.  (Valero Energy Corporation (NYSE: VLO) is a Fortune 500 international manufacturer and marketer of transportation fuels, other petrochemical products, and power based in San Antonio, Texas, United States)

WORST BOWL SPONSORSHIP NAME:  Taxslayer.com Gator Bowl.   Are you kidding me?  The last thing I want to do is think of income taxes during bowl season.  I would never use or recommend taxslayer.com, but Ohio St. – Florida and the Urban Meyer story line is good.

BEST BOWL TO PLAY IN:  Uh da!  Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.  Whether you’re from Nevada or Hattiesburg Mississippi, or anywhere else in the world, I say “Mele Kalikimaka”,which means to me in English “It would not suck to spend Christmas in Hawaii.”

WORST BOWL TO PLAY IN:  New Era Pinstripe Bowl.  I don’t care who built the house… unless I was playing baseball there in the summer, or better yet October.  But football in December?  You got to be kidding me.  Does anyone from Ames Iowa make this trip?  New Year’s in Times Square anyone from the the Hawkeye State?  Since the Sopranos went off HBO Rutgers has lost some muscle.

BEST BETS ATS: TCU 11 over La Tech,  Baylor 9 over Washington, Cincinnati +2 over Vandy, Arizona St. +12 over Boise St.

BIGGEST UPSET: Wyoming over Temple outright.  No one from Philly belongs in New Mexico.

BOWL I WOULD BE AFRAID TO WEAR MY SCHOOL COLORS: Ticket City Bowl.  I’d wear a Case Keenum jersey even if I was from Happy Valley.  (Thanks Jerry, you freak!) The only bowl game on ESPNU, ??? The other 35 bowl games are on either ESPN, ABC, ESPN2 (1 game), FOX (1 game), CBS (1 game)… isn’t ESPU still in non-HD?

GAME PLAYED AT BIGGEST TAXPAYER EXPENSE:  Belk Bowl played at Bank of America Stadium, sponsorship paid for with your tax dollars  (TARP funds),  Why does anyone even bank there anymore?

Well whatever bank you are getting ripped off by,  it’s a great time of the year
