Tarpon Springs, Fla.– Dr. Parveen Vahora has performed the first single-site hysterectomy at Florida Hospital North Pinellas in Tarpon Springs, FL.  The single-site surgery performed by Dr. Vahora is a significant advancement in the field of minimally invasive robotic hysterectomies.  Unlike other hysterectomies which can require several incisions, the single-site surgery is done through one incision in a women’s navel, leaving minimal scarring.

“Our first priority is to provide quality care to our patients” said Dr. Vahora “single-site gynecologic surgery is a huge advancement in this kind of care because of its potential to minimize recovery time and scarring.”

Robotic surgeries such as the one performed by Dr. Vahora enhance the doctor’s control and dexterity. The multi-incision robotic procedures and the new single-site surgeries are minimally invasive and reduce patient recovery time.  A patient having a single-site hysterectomy will go home from the hospital within a day of the surgery and be back to a normal routine in two weeks, compared with a three-day hospital stay and a six-week recovery period for a traditional hysterectomy.  Dr. Vahora and other robotics surgeons use the da Vinci Surgical System, which the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved for minimally invasive surgeries in 2000.

Dr. Parveen Vahora is a board certified, fellowship trained Laparoscopic Gynecological Surgeon. She finished her fellowship in laparoscopy and pelvic surgery in 2005 at Florida Hospital Celebration Health in Celebration, Florida. Prior to, she completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Drexel University, in Philadelphia in 2002.

Dr. Vahora offers cutting-edge surgical solutions including da Vinci® robotic surgery, providing her patients with options that bring benefits like significantly less pain, less blood loss and scaring, quicker recovery and return to normal daily activities.
