I-4 Battle Should be one Sided

By on November 25, 2015

ucfIt has been two years since the USF Bulls beat the UCF Knights. In other words, Willie Taggart has yet to beat the Knights in his tenure at USF. All that will change Thursday night with the seventh meeting of the I-4 rivals.

Why go ahead and predict a USF victory? Well, to put it simply and as nice as I can, UCF STINKS! They are one of the worse teams in the FBS and on the verge of going 0-12 for the second time in 11 years.

About UCF: No team has fallen faster and farther than UCF. Their AD quit (before the start of the season), all AAC running back Will Stanback was kicked off the team and the head coach resigned. Oh yeah, they have used 33 first-time starters this season. That’s pretty much a recipe for disaster. They rank, if not at the bottom, then close to the bottom of every American Athletic conference category with the exception of kick returns, where they are fourth in the conference averaging 23.5 yards per return. They have been outscored 408-164 allowing opponents 469.4 total yards per game. If there has been a bright spot for the Knights, it’s the emergence of freshman wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith who leads the team with 45 receptions for 622 yards. The defense is just as bad as the offense. In their last game, the Knights gave up over 600 yards to East Carolina. The defensive unit ranks 115th nationally allowing 469.4 ypg and is 126th in pass efficiency defense.

About USF: Another week, another dominating performance by a Bulls offense that has found their identity after struggling at the beginning of the season. After rushing for over 300 plus yards in each of the last two games, the Bulls have now rushed for 2,634 yards this year, ranking them 12th nationally averaging 240 rush yards per game. Marlon Mack needs 204 more yards to break the single season rushing record of 1,375 set by Andre Hall in 2005. The Bulls defense has been just as stellar averaging 7.7 tackles for loss, which ranks 11th in the FBS.

Prediction: Bulls Win! Nothing else needs to be said. Seriously, no need to elaborate. Bulls win…BIG! USF 51-UCF 10.
