Not Good for Texas, Yu Know
By Kris Dunn on March 13, 2015After shutting him down for evaluation, the Rangers took the advice of three separate doctors; Yu Darvish will undergo Tommy John surgery early next week. Darvish has been spectacular for the Rangers since being acquired in 2012. A three time All-Star, he led the majors in strikeouts in 2013.
Darvish has 680 Ks in three years with Rangers.
The Rangers were going to struggle to compete in the AL West this season, this does not help their chances. Recovery times can be tricky with such surgeries. If all goes well, Darvish could be back early in 2016.
To make matters worse, newly acquired Anthony Ranaudo left Thursday’s game with arm discomfort. Matt Harrison and Nick Martinez will be called upon to shoulder some of the innings load with the loss of Darvish.
