2017 in the American League East is shaping up to be another fight for the top spot.   In the past seven years since 2010, five different teams have won the title. The Tampa Bay Rays won in 2010 and have not been back on top since.  The NY Yankees won the following two years (2011 & 2012) and the Boston Red Sox won the division pennant twice as well last year and in 2013.  The Baltimore Orioles won in 2014 and the Toronto Blue Jays did it in 2015.

Who will it be this year?  Baltimore, New York and Boston are playing .500 plus ball only a few weeks in,  but Tampa Bay is just below .500 and only 4 ½ games out behind division leading Baltimore.

Las Vegas pundits have the Boston Red Sox as the favorites to win the American League.  The Red Sox certainly has the offensive firepower and a great starting rotation to get the job done.  As matter a fact,  Sportsbettingdime.com has Red Sox ace Chris Sale as the favorite to win the AL Cy Young but if Sale falters the Blue Jays’ Marco Estrada could be that Cy Young guy.   For that to happen,  Toronto needs to get their act together as they are at the bottom of the division playing .273 ball and 9 games out of first. If things north of border do not change soon it may be a four team race for the AL East pennant.

Stay tuned, the 2017 Kentucky Derby has not even run yet which means there’s of baseball left.
