Dugout Blown Away

By on October 16, 2024

DUNEDIN, FLA. — The third base dugout on Field 6 at the Blue Jays Player Development Complex got torn off sometime Wednesday night or early Thursday morning because of high velocity winds from Hurricane Milton.  The photo shows the roof of the dugout totally blown away with only the dugout bench still in place.  Field 6 at the complex is the original field one at the complex when there were just three baseball fields at the site at the corner of Solon Ave. and Garrison Rd. in Dunedin.  It also appears to be the only major damage at the complex from the hurricane.

The water hazard on the first hole at the Tarpons Spring Golf Course has appeared to expand crossing Alt 19.  The water via Hurricane Milton is shown in the first photo looking north and the second looking south from the courses first tee box. (EDDIE MICHELS PHOTO above and below)

Hurricane Helene hit Dunedin but its damage signs are growing on a daily basis.  Just look at the first photo of a home at 562 Baywood Drive which is about a quarter mile from the Gulf of Mexico and a quarter west of US Alt 19 next to the Dunedin Country Club.  You can clearly see the high water marks on the house from the high tide.  Then the next two photos  clearly show what the area residents have had to do, totally clean out their homes as most all of their furnishings were under water for a lengthy period of time.  These sights are not limited to just Dunedin but all up and down the gulf coast of Florida, with streets being packed high with people’s belongings.  Also, for our Canadian readers it appears that Helene did none if any damage to the Toronto Blue Jays spring training stadium or its player development complex.
