Night number six of this year’s World Series would see the American Canadian Tour run their third and final race of Speedweeks.  The race was supposed to take place Tuesday night, but a complete washout would postpone the event till Wednesday, night six.  Eddie MacDonald won both previous 100 lap events, Sunday’s race being run without a caution flag being thrown .  Tonight he would start 17th, fight his way to the front and take the lead 71 laps in, and win for a third straight time, sweeping all 3 ACT races this year.

Brad Babb gest a jump on the field at the start and pulls away from Keith Rocco and Tom Carey Jr.  Ray Parent falls into fourth over Brandon Atkins.  Lap five and Rocco looks low to try for the lead, he cannot make the pass as Parent moves to third, Carey to fourth.  Rocco keeps the pressure on Babb, great racing for the lead, caution lap 17, Josh Deemers spins after contact with Donald Theetge, fighting for 7th.

On the restart, Babb and Rocco battle side by side for three laps till Rocco finally clears Babb and take the point.  Brandon Atkins moves past Tom Carey for fourth as our second caution flies for Wayne Helliwell who loops his car, no contact, he is able to continue.  The restart sees Eddie MacDonald already up to seventh and he is on the move.  Lap 40 and MacDonald forces his way past Carey and Deemers.  Half way and Alex Labbe and Joey “Pole” fight their way to the front trying to keep up with MacDonald, who runs sixth.  Rocco still leads over Babb.

The second half of the race sees MacDonald, Pole, and Helliwell move past Parent and look to the front.  MacDonald takes them 3 wide and Atkins spins, caution out lap 66.  Rocco slides up on Babb and MacDonald looks low to try three wide on the restart.  He will not force the issue and falls into third.  Helliwell puts pressure on MacDonald as the battle for first heats up.  Rocco and Babb slide high and Mac Donald takes the lead, Pole takes second as Rooco slips back.  Babb puts pressure on MacDonald for the lead and Pole, Helliwell and Rocco battle it out for third.  Helliwell wins that battle and with 10 laps to go takes Babb for second, can he reel in MacDonald for the win?

10 to go, Pole takes third from Babb and Labbe takes fifth from Rocoo as Helliwell keeps the pressure on MacDonald, he is within 3 car lengths of the leader.  Wayne Helliwell gives it all he’s got, but it will not be enough, MacDonald wins by a car length, Pole finishes third.

A great final race for the ACT cars.  Good clean hard racing.  Can’t wait to see the ACT series next Speedweeks.
