Making his debut at Thomas B. Southard Stadium on Thursday, March 7th will be Leonardo (Leo) the Lion from Dade City’s Wild Things. That’s right; a real lion will be live and in person at Thursday’s baseball game against St. Anselm.

“Having a real lion back on campus will be an exciting addition to
the home games at Saint Leo University,” Head Baseball Coach Sean
O’Connor said.

Leo will take part in a first pitch ceremony on the field before the
game and then will move to his seating location in the right field
corner for the rest of the evening.

“We are looking to re-establish a tradition which was here in the
70’s and 80’s where a lion was kept on campus,” Director of Athletics
Fran Reidy said.

Come out to the ballpark on Thursday night and meet Leo yourself! First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m.
