Great Monday Night Match-up, You can Bet on It

By on December 18, 2019

It’s mid-December and as expected this time of year in the NFC North Division a huge game with playoff implications.  The perfect stage, Monday Night Football as the 10-4 Minnesota Vikings host the 11-3 Green Bay Packers.   The Vikings need the win to clinch a wildcard spot but can still win the NFC North by winning out the last two games and Green Bay losing in week 17 at Detroit.

Looking back at the 2019 Monday Night Football schedule from this week 16, this game is definitely arguably the most intriguing match-up of the whole year.

The Vikings are a 4.5 point favorite for this Monday Night Football game, but will definitely see some fluctuation on that number, so here are some sites that have been highly rated by SBD to keep track on the spread as the game come closest.

The Vikings go into the game fourth in the NFL in rushing on the shoulders of third year man Dalvin Cook.  Cook drafted by the Vikings in 2017, only played four games that year due to injury and eleven games in 2018.  But this year Cook has been healthy the whole way this year gaining 1,135 yards on 250 carries for 7th in the NFL.  Cook rushed for 154 yards back in week two in a 21-16 loss at Green Bay.  Quarterback Kirk Cousins has been more consistent this year leading the Vikings to their 10-4 record.  Cousins has completed of 70% of his passes with 25 TDs and only 5 picks. However, two of the interceptions were in week two at Green Bay. Of the Packers three losses, two have been on the road, both in California at San Francisco and at Los Angeles (Chargers team).

Aaron Rodgers is having a typical Aaron Rodgers year completing over 63% of his passes for 3,463 yards with 25 TDs and only 2 INTs.

So, who do you like?  I must admit a tough game to pick but I am leaning towards the Vikings.  In a divisional game taking the dog with the 4.5 is tempting but I believe Vikings are the better all-around team and will be ready to play Monday night in front of that fired up home crowd.
