Bird Score: Bluejays 7 – Orioles 4
By Eddie Michels on March 30, 2011SARASOTA, Fl. (RSEN)–Left-hander Brett Cecil got knocked around a bit during his four innings of work but the Toronto Blue Jays still beat the host Baltimore Orioles 7-4 in the O’s last spring home game of the year at Ed Smith Stadium.
Cecil allowed four runs on nine hits and walked two but more importantly his velocity appears to have returned.
“He was very excited that his velocity had returned,” said Cecil’s catcher JP Areniciba, “As excited as he was he kind of left the ball up.”
On the stadium radar gun Cecil was a consistant 88-90 with his normal being 92-93.
Aaron Hill continues his hot hitting going 3-4 with three RBI and scored two runs raising his spring average to .524.
Adam also added a homer in the seventh, his second of the spring.
Toronto plays Tampa Bay Wednesday afternoon at “The Trop” in St. Pete at 4:05 PM for their final spring outing. After the game the team flies to Toronto in preparation for their home opener on April 1 against the Minnesota Twins.
