Edgar Gonzalez was designated for assignment on Friday April 5th after not appearing for the Astros this season. In 2012 the 6-2, 210 lb. right handed pitcher was 3-1 in six starts for the Astros with a 5.04 ERA. The native of Nuevo Leon, Mexico has a career Major League record of 17-26 with a 5.84 ERA in 113 games with 47 starts. This spring he appeared in five games posting a 3.46 ERA.
Righty Dustin McGowan is relegated to the 60 day DL list to make room for the former Hosuton Astro.
Also on Saturday the Jays have selected the contract of David Bush a right-handed pitcher from Buffalo of the International League (AAA). Pitcher (RHP) Jeremy Jeffress has been designated for assignment.
BUSH, 33, returns to the club after spending 2002-2005 within the Blue Jays organization. The Pittsburgh, PA native has a career 56-69 record with a 4.70 ERA in 210 games (187 starts) for Toronto and Milwaukee. In seven spring appearances (one start), Bush posted a 3-1 record with a 6.23 ERA.
