The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have claimed OF DEWAYNE WISE off of waivers from the Florida Marlins. Wise is scheduled to report to the Blue Jays on Saturday August 27 at which time a corresponding move will occur.

WISE, 33, returns to Toronto for a 3^rd time at the Major League level, most recently appearing in 52 games last season with the club, batting .250 with three home runs and 14 RBI. The left-handed hitting outfielder has appeared in 49 games for the Florida Marlins this season posting a .239 average with five RBI in just 67 at-bats. Originally a 5^th round pick by Cincinnati in 1997, Wise began his Major League career with the Blue Jays in 2000 and has played for five teams over parts of nine seasons (Toronto, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Chicago White Sox, Florida). The 5’11’, 195 pound veteran has a career .223 average, with 20 home runs and 80 RBI in 425 games.
