BLUE JAYS RECALL MASTROIANNI

        The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have recalled OF DARIN MASTROIANNI from Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League (AAA). 2B KELLY JOHNSON will report to the club tomorrow, Thursday August 25th, at which time a corresponding move will occur.

 

        MASTROIANNI, 25, has split time between New Hampshire (AA) and Las Vegas (AAA) in 2011. In New Hampshire the right-handed hitter posted a .254 average with 12 extra base hits and 14 stolen bases in 44 games while in Las Vegas he registered a .273 average with 25 extra base hits and 14 stolen bases in 68 games. The 5-11, 190 pound outfielder was selected by the Blue Jays in the 16th round of the 2007 First Year Player Draft and has appeared in 538 minor league games batting .279 with 14 home runs, 183 RBI and 194 stolen bases. Mastroianni led all Blue Jays farmhands last season with 104 runs scored, 158 hits and 46 stolen bases.
