BLUE JAYS PLACE ESCOBAR ON PATERNITY LIST & RECALL RHP CHAD BECK

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have placed shortstop YUNEL ESCOBAR on the paternity list and have recalled right handed pitcher CHAD BECK from Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).
The maximum stay on the paternity list is three days.  Escobar will need to be reinstated from the list prior to the Saturday, August 25th game in Baltimore at the latest.
ESCOBAR, 29, is currently batting .246 with 13 doubles, seven home runs and 39 RBI.  The 6-2, 212 lb. right handed hitting native of Havana, Cuba is tied for second on the team with 115 games played this season.
BECK, 27, has appeared in seven games for Toronto this season posting a 5.87 ERA without a decision.  The 6-4, 255lb. right-handed pitcher has made 39 relief appearances for Las Vegas this season, posting a 2-0 record with 15 saves and a 1.49 ERA.
